Après deux semaines d'échanges avec les autorités camerounaises, le FMI recommande une meilleure maîtrise des dépenses publiques, un ciblage plus pertinent des subventions au carburant, des limites au recours à l'endettement et à son coût ainsi que le renforcement progressif des investissements dans l'électricité et les infrastructures routières. L'objectif est de préserver les équilibres budgétaires tout en favorisant la croissance et l'amélioration des conditions de vie des populations.

Les éléments de la Zone III de l’opération HALCOMI (Halte au commerce illicite), ont intercepté un camion transportant des produits prohibés au lieu-dit Sanguéré-Ngal sur l'axe Garoua-Ngaoundéré. Le véhicule en partance pour Douala, charriait plus de 05 tonnes, soit 1672000 emballages plastiques non biodégradables interdits, pour une valeur marchande estimée à plus de 5 500 000 FCFA Une enquête est ouverte pour établir toute la chaîne de responsabilités, a déclaré à l’AVI le Commandant des Douanes Gommogoa Kaoga, responsable de l’opération. L'Opération HALCOMI s'attaque aux circuits illégaux qui inondent la région du Nord de produits non conformes, dangereux pour la santé, qui privent l'Etat de recettes fiscales, pénalisant par la même occasion, les commerçants en règle.
